All about All About Romance

It's hard to leave old friends behind . . .

A few months before I got a publishing contract, I ended my tenure as reviewer at All About Romance. I didn't feel it would be appropriate for me to continuing reviewing, so, on the last day of December 2002, I officially parted company with AAR.

Having said that, it's been difficult to move on since I feel personally close to Laurie Gold and the rest of the staff. After five years, we are friends. More than friends. I used to look forward to logging on to my computer each day so I could read the email from my AAR "family." Sure, we're scattered all over the country - coast-to-coast and everywhere in between - but that doesn't matter. Thanks to modern technology, we were able to get to know each other very well.

Even though I've never actually met most of the AAR staff, after five years of sharing stories of our daily lives, our kids, spouses and significant others, jobs, pets, triumphs and tragedies, broken cars and broken bones, we became a part of each others' lives in a very personal way. We mourned each others' losses, applauded each others' successes. I miss that; I miss them.

I think good friends are hard to find, and once you find them, find ways to keep them. That's the way I feel about All About Romance. I hold Laurie and the rest of the staff very close to my heart. I always will.

For you, the reader, one of the best things about the AAR site is the Desert Island Keepers list. I had only been reading romance for about six months when I stumbled across it and it helped guide me to some of the very best in genre fiction. If you're looking for a list of some truly excellent reads, I urge you to check it out.

In fact, check out the whole site; here's the link once more --- allaboutromance.com

And while you're there, please say hello for me.
